අකුර is a project run by "Big Hearts Team" to support education of poor students and re-build rural schools in Sri Lanka.
Since 2015, every year Big Hearts Foundation Team select one rural school donate completed school pack for all the students in the selected school to support their education and also providing library books, science lab equipments, music instruments and sport equipments to support their school to facilitate the students for quality education.
Upto now Big Hearts Foundation Support all the students in Mo/Piyananda Kanishta Vidyalaya, Buttala (2016 - 28 students) and Anu/Ramadagala Primary School, Dambulla (2016 - 66 students), Ra/Gagulwitiya Vidyalaya (2019 - 76) under this project.
පුස්තකාලය is a project run by "Big Hearts Team" by donating books to libraries in rural villages, Piriwena & Universities.
Every year Big Hearts Foundation collect monetary and book (New/Used) donations from our humble donors. Those books we categorize according to the subject area and donate back to rural community libraries, rural school libraries, rural pirivena, government universities and three forces (Army, Navy and Air Force).
In year 2016-2019 Big Hearts Foundation donated 1410 books up to now from 28 donations and we are planning to donate 2000 books end of the year 2020. 2020 onwards we are planning to increase this donation into 2000 books per year to support the education of rural communities, school children and undergraduates in Sri Lanka.
Enable Differently Abled
Enable Differently Abled is a project run By "Big Hearts Team" supporting our fellow citizens who need physical and emotional support for their day to day work.
Through this project we are planning to support different set of physically and mentally handicapped communities trough providing visual aids, heading aids, physical aids and technical aids to carry on their daily work easily.
In year 2017 we started this project and our team was able to donate 300 white canes to "Sri Lanka Blind Graduates Society" in year 2017/2018.
Our team is willing to carry on projects to support other communities in the coming years.
Green Map Sri Lanka Coastal Clean Up
Green Map Sri Lanka Coastal Clean Up is a project run By "Green Map Sri Lanka Team" under Big Hearts Foundation.
Sri Lanka is a country which has 1340Km of beautiful beaches around the country. These beaches provide homes to millions of birds and other animals. Also, these lovely beaches attract millions of tourists every year to see and feel the beauty. Due to human activities, most of the Srilankan beaches are polluted with polythene, plastic and many other garbage sources which are non-biodegradable.
Green Map Sri Lanka Coastal Clean Up is a collaboration of different government organizations, citizen groups, and nature loving individuals with Green Map Sri Lanka to clean the dumped garbage in the coastal areas around Sri Lanka and protect the coastal and marine environment ecosystem for the future generations.
Up to now, we were able to clean 23,900 + kg garbage from 23 coastal cleanup projects.
Conserve Sripada Garbage Clean Up
Conserve Sripada Garbage Clean Up is a project run By "Green Map Sri Lanka Team" under Big Hearts Foundation.
Conserve Sripada Garbage Clean Up is a collaboration of different government organisations, citizen groups and nature loving individuals with Green Map Sri Lanka to clean the dumped garbage at the world famous Sri Padha pilgrimage site and protect the environment for the future generations.
Sripada mountain area is a biodiversity hotspot of Sri Lanka being a part of the Peak wilderness sanctuary which is a tropical rain forest that spreads over a land of 224 square kilometres. This is Sri Lanka's 3rd largest sanctuary as well. It is also the birthplace of Kelani, Kalu, Walave rivers and many tributaries of the river Mahaweli. Therefore as a nature lovers, it is our duty to protect the environment for future generations.
Upto now we were able to clean 3,000+ kg garbage from 5 conserve sripada projects.
තුරුසෙවන - Thurusewana
තුරුසෙවන - Thurusewana is a project run By "I Am Carbon Negative Team" under Big Hearts Foundation to reforest all the possible lands around Sri Lanka to minimize the deforestation and protect the wildlife and our own environment ecosystem for the future generations.
තුරුසෙවන - Thurusewana focusing about replanting trees in deforested areas and motivating people to think about environment-friendly living through having more trees surrounded by them to provide not only oxygen to breathe but also the friendly environment for other animals to live freely with having enough food to consume and extend their healthy life.
Through this project our main focus is to promote Green Living with planting more trees around you covering five important areas which directly help us to change the landscape of Sri Lanka:
- Deforest Lands
- Water Reserve Habitats
- High Rise Buildings
up to now 1230 trees planted within 4 Thurusewana projects. 2019 onwards our plan is to plan 1000 trees per year.
I Am Carbon Negative
I Am Carbon Negative is a project run By "I Am Carbon Negative Team" focusing on educating people about how to become environment-friendly living through more nature-friendly activities, planing more trees and consuming low carbon emissions products and services.
Through this project our main focus is to promote five important concepts about high carbon emission products and services:
- Remind above 5 R's
Through this, we are planning to educate people about the above 6 areas and motivate them to consume more carbon negative (low) products and services. Which makes them, directly and indirectly, help to protect the environment for future generations through the environment-friendly living pattern.
Two workshops conducted and over 300+ school children and volunteers educated through this project.
National Garbage Cleanup Day
"National Garbage Cleanup Day" is a project run by "Garbage Free Lanka" Team. Which is initiated by Big Hearts Foundation who partnered several environment conservation organizations to fight against garbage issue in Sri Lanka (Green Spine, Protect Railways, Helakuru).
This "Garbage Free Lanka" initiative wanted to implement a proper waste management system in Sri Lanka along with the support of policy makers and the general public.
"National Garbage Cleanup Day" is an island-wide garbage cleanup project run by GFL team with the support of many government, private and volunteer organizations to arrange garbage cleanup project in their nearest city or coastal area.
NGCD first conducted their project on National Independance Day 2019. There were 1,020 garbage cleanups conducted and nearly 25,000 volunteers joined with the project who cleaned 210 tons of garbage from all over the country.
Blood Needs is a project run By "Blood Needs Team" under Big Hearts Foundation to work as an aggregator platform for blood and organ donations.
Patients could request blood and organ donation from donors for their surgeries through Blood Needs. All the responses from blood and organ donors routed through Government hospitals. None of the patient information will be exposed to the general public.
Blood Needs currently operate through Facebook Page and Twitter Account. We are in the process of development of the website to extend and improve our service to the help patients to find blood through donors and blood donation camp organizers to promote their donation camps to the general public.
Up to now, our blood need service would be able to save more than 650+ lives in Sri Lanka and 2600+ lives in south Asian countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh since 2014.
National Coastal Cleanup Day
"National Coastal Cleanup Day" is a project run by "Garbage Free Lanka" Team. Which is initiated by Big Hearts Foundation who partnered several environment conservation organizations to fight against garbage issue in Sri Lanka (Green Spine, Protect Railways, Helakuru, MEPA).
This "Garbage Free Lanka" initiative wanted to implement a proper waste management system in Sri Lanka along with the support of policymakers and the general public.
"National Coastal Cleanup Day" is an island-wide Coastal cleanup project run by GFL team with the support of many government, private and volunteer organizations to arrange garbage cleanup project in their nearest coastal area.
NCCD first conducted their project on 31st March 2019. There were 105 garbage cleanups conducted and nearly 3,600 +volunteers joined with the project who cleaned 31 tons of garbage from all over the country.
Let Me Help
"Let Me Help" is a project run by "Let Me Help" Team. Which is initiated by Big Hearts Foundation who partnered several individuals and volunteer groups locally and globally to support individuals and communities who need financial, medical, and infrastructure support to uplift their living standards.
LMH first project conducted their project on 29th March 2019. There were 5 LMH projects conducted during March, April and May 2020 and nearly 300,000 rupees worth of donations done to government hospitals to fight against Covid-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.
Our focus is to get individual and group support for individuals or communities who need support to uplift their living standards through our various LMH projects in the future.
